The secret to an effective group is having no more than 7 people. If you go over 7, start a new group.
Think about every area in life where you see groupings of people working together:
The running of a mosque
Management of a company
Charity organisations
You only really need 3 people to steer any worthwhile cause. You can have plenty of workers and volunteers… but the core group who run things should be as small as possible.
For example, if you have a project to build wells in impoverished areas, once you start creeping past 3 people… start a second group.
You will cover more areas, get more done and avoid disputes.
The cause is the same—providing water to people in need. You start shifting away from the cause when more people get involved. This is a feature we see in far too many Muslim projects.
We could fix half our problems overnight if we adopted this. I want you to tell me in the comments why this is true.
P.S.
I wrote a short introduction on the benefits of becoming a subscriber.
Its true. Too many people running a single cause only leads to unnecessary confusion and dispute.
There are many right ways to perform a single action, and the lesser people there are "in command" the better.
