How missing deadlines will help you succeed
This unconventional wisdom is the secret to achieving your goals... even when you miss your deadline.
Did you know sailing ships don’t travel in a straight line?
They have to keep changing direction so they can catch the best wind possible. They go off course multiple times in a single trip but will actually reach their destination faster this way than if they tried to stay on a straight line.
This is the secret with deadlines.
We should set deadlines—a target to aim for—but what happens if we miss the deadline?
Set another deadline and keep going.
A deadline is just an imaginary target to aim for. Make completing the goal the important factor. Don’t beat yourself up over deadlines.
It’s the people who keep going who reach the end. Even when they go off course they don’t give up… they set another target… another deadline… and correct course…
Till they reach their goal.
