How Muslims can start a profitable one-person business... without risking a penny upfront - PART 3
By now, you should have at least 50 ideas on what to publish for your one person information business. If not, I strongly suggest you go through the exercises in PART 1 and PART 2 before continuing.
Once you have a unique topic and clarified your belief statement, content pillars and at least 50 ideas to talk about… you really have all you need to run a successful information business. What remains is organising it all in a manner that…
Is interesting to read.
Benefits your audience.
Is enjoyable for you to work on, and…
Allows you stay consistent.
Perhaps the biggest roadblock to running a successful information business is knowing how to present the information. You’ve put it all out on paper and know exactly what you want to say… you just don’t know how to say it. This is the same whether you’re writing a newsletter or publishing a podcast. What you need is a reliable collection of templates to help you present your content.
Think of your ideas as playdough. They will take whatever shape you want them to… it all depends on the mold. Imagine one of your ideas is represented by green playdough. It’s still green playdough… but you can make any combination of shapes based on the mold you use… or in other words: the template.
And here’s the secret… you will have a sustainable information business if you learn how to use the same playdough with as many different molds as possible. It means you can take just one of your 50 ideas and reshape it 3, 4, 5 or more times and still make it interesting and new every single time. And the beauty of it is you can develop a half-decent idea into an fully explored concept… and this becomes a trademark of your business.
Let’s say your unique topic is about being a new mother who is committed to raising a healthy child without chemicals or GMO foods. One of your pillars is on the importance of natural food for babies. And one of your ideas to support this pillar is to talk about bone broth for babies. Seems pretty mundane? How many things can you write about bone broth and still keep it interesting for your audience? That’s where templates come in…
The following are my suggestions for tried and tested content templates to turn your ideas into trademark, cornerstone content:
