Is the red heifer sacrifice going ahead? The answer may surprise you…
Are you wasting time worrying about what will happen?
The people who talk about red heifers and nuclear war every day but never prepare for the times we live in will be in a lot of trouble… regardless if they are true or not.
The people who never talk about the red heifer and nuclear war but prepare every day will be in a much better position.
Because scaremongering doesn’t prepare you for anything.
Preparing does.
OK… so what was the point of this title and the sentences above?
Let me explain…
For whatever reason, the algorithms have decided I need to see content on rehashed conspiracy theories about the “red heifer”.
Apparently, even the dawah celebrities suddenly remembered about dajjal and end times prophecies. And just when the red heifer nonsense is doing the rounds on social media.
Funny how that works.
But I really don't want to get into that. It’s obviously a time waste and not worth addressing.
The reason I brought it up, and why the title says, “...The answer may surprise you…”, is because…
I'm worried basic, practical actions are being replaced by deliberation, over thinking, trending topics and theories.
And there’s always something.
This past Ramadhan, I think I've responded, at length, to at least a dozen people who were not sure about when to fast and when to stop fasting…
When to eat and when not to eat…
What is the white thread and black thread.
These are genuine concerns of Muslims who love Allah and Islam. But they're not finding practical solutions to their questions.
And a lot of it is down to the lack of clarity you suffer from an over supply of information.
The more access to information we have, the more confused we seem to be getting.
Information overload.
Paralysis by analysis.
I keep saying it but it needs to be repeated: we were never meant to consume this much information, this quickly.
We can't (and don't) take action on everything demanding our attention.
In fact we can barely think about what to do because we're so overwhelmed with information.
One of the most annoying outcomes is the idea that signaling our concern about an issue somehow counts as taking action.
But perhaps worst of all is the space for harebrained distortions of Islam facilitated by the lack of prioritising practical solutions. This is particularly true of the “Islamic eschatology” community.

Here’s a wild suggestion:
Why don't we simply seek clarity on a handful of important goals and tasks (beneficial, needed and within one's circle of influence) at a time and prioritise action?
I started Strategic Sunnah some years back for this very purpose:
Find your life's mission.
Set big goals to fulfil your mission.
Take action every day to achieve your goals.
