You won't end oppression because there isn't enough demand
We have a low supply of solutions because there isn't enough demand for them.
What’s the first thing you need to look at when starting a business?
Is it finding a product to sell?
Or buying a domain for your website?
Or designing a logo for the brand?
It's none of the above.
The first thing you need to look at when starting a business is: what do people want?
What problems do they want to solve? What do they crave? What keeps them up at night?
Simple as that.
If you make the tastiest biryani in the world. And have the most professional website with a great logo…
It makes no difference if there is no one out there wanting to eat biryani.
If there is no demand… you don't have customers. And if you don't have any customers… you don't have a business.
But as long as people want something…
And you can provide it at a price they’re willing to pay…
Then you have a business.
Just ask drug dealers.
Terrible product. Awful reputation.
Unlimited customers.
And the drug dealers will always be around as long as the demand is there.
You need to take away the demand if you want to change the status quo. You have to create a demand for something better.
And that's always an uphill struggle.
You see we're all addicted to something. And there will always be someone to benefit from whatever you're addicted to.
What are Muslims addicted to?
Debates
Blaming
Being victims
It's why we see a steady supply of the same old useless content.
I say useless: for the bigger issues we need to tackle.
Plenty of dawah celebrities. Because Muslims are addicted to debates.
No widely available riba free options. Because Muslims aren’t demanding it.
No solutions to end oppression. Because…?
The demand is what creates the market.
So if we want a better market… if we want a more effective landscape for Muslim Betterment… Muslims MUST change their demands.
We have to crave something better.
And I know as you’re reading this you’re thinking that’s never going to happen.
Good.
That should tell you something:
As well-meaning as the status quo may be—dawah celebrities, charity organisations, etc—they are only as effective as the market demands.
That’s YOU.
You are the market.
And as more Muslims become proactive so will the demand for proactive solutions.
Supply will follow demand.
But it’s not enough to simply have an alternative in the market.
You can’t just make a new iPhone and try to compete.
Even with several options one or more tend to stand out and dominate the market.
Islamic thought is dominated by whatever the dawah celebrities are talking about that week.
You must change the demands of the market or… carve out an entirely new market… if you want to enact change.
And it’s the same for proactive Muslims.
We can carve out a brand new market for solutions first, proactive Muslims.
And I’ll suggest two ways you can do that right now:
Reject anything that doesn’t take you closer to your goals. Remember that as a proactive Muslim you have a real-world plan for the betterment of yourself, your family and for Muslims as a whole. Eliminating everything that detracts from your plan will open space for proactive solutions in your life.
Set goals for a life of effectiveness and service to the Ummah. Work on those goals. Connect with others doing the same. Combine your efforts. Share your ideas and resources. The new market for proactive Muslim solutions will pull you in it’s orbit.
P.S.
Do you want to know a tried and tested framework for how to create your own market. One with zero competitors, less work and more profits? (And yes it works for helping your community too—it’s what I’m using to create a new market for proactive Muslims.)
I’m thinking about making this one of my core ideas in the video courses I’m working on. But I need to know if there is demand!
