Muslims need to take personal responsibility - 11 things you must do right now
Do you feel like you aren’t in control of your life? Does seeing the events taking place in the world make you feel powerless? This happens because you are in a reactive state of mind… instead of a proactive state of mind. Which one applies to you?
Reactive:
You react to what is happening around you.
You consume any information that falls in front of you.
Your opinions and emotions are controlled by external factors.
Proactive:
You only act according to your principles.
You restrict information based on how it will help your goals.
Your thoughts and feelings are controlled by you.
A reactive state of mind only leads to negative emotions. And we can't take charge of our lives unless we eliminate negative emotions. Here are some of the most common negative emotions with examples:
Excuses:
There’s always a reason “why” you can’t do what you want.
E.g. You don’t have enough money to make hijrah.
Opinions of others:
You fear criticism and ridicule.
E.g. You don’t start on your business idea because you’re worried what others will say.
Rationalisation:
You convince yourself things are fine the way they are and trying to change could lead to more problems.
E.g. Muslims are suffering because that’s just the way the world works until the Mahdi comes.
Justification:
You think whatever is happening is actually right and fair.
E.g. You tell yourself Muslims are suffering because of their sins and that’s the only thing that needs to change.
Blame:
It’s always someone else’s fault.
E.g. You believe the Arab leaders are complicit in the genocide.
The cure for negative emotions is simple: taking personal responsibility. This is the foundation for a proactive mindset. A mindset that helps the Ummah. A mindset the enemy fears. Realise you alone are responsible.
It is impossible to firmly believe you are personally responsible and not feel happy and hopeful about your role in this life. Commit to the following:
Stop blaming others. Replace blame with dua.
Control your emotions. Eliminate sources of information that only make you angry or sad.
Tell yourself you are responsible. Yes, literally… say “I am responsible”, “I am responsible” any time you feel these negative emotions creep back.
One of the most frustrating things I see Muslims do is project one or more of these negative emotions on the entirety of the Ummah. You’ll see Muslims say things like “this Ummah is asleep!” or “the Ummah is weak!”.
Don't say "Ummah" if you have nothing positive to say. How many Muslims do you actually know? How many do you serve, feed, support, educate? How many Muslims know you and can rely on you?
Only say “Ummah” when you have positive and constructive things to say.
Learn about the missing skill that will help you get closer to the Ummah.
Realise the effects of negative emotions are well known to the enemy. They weaponize our emotions against us. In military terms, it’s about destroying the morale of your opponents. Athletes use it to psyche out the competition, effectively defeating them mentally before they even reach the playing field. Don’t let negative emotions be used against you. Consider the following:
How many millions of us see images of dead Muslims multiple times a day?
At least 100 million. Easily. And I said multiple times a day. That's 100 million Muslims voluntarily viewing images of the torn, burnt, mutilated, crushed, decomposed dead bodies of fellow Muslims. Multiple times. Daily. Who else but the enemy wants this for us?
Learn more about the voluntary brainwashing we're exposing ourselves to.
Seeing the images won't end the suffering. Not seeing them will.
Because you will rebuild your humanity. Your mental abilities. Your creativity. Your resolve. Your confidence. Self esteem. And hope.
If viewing porn physically affects your brain and not viewing porn rebuilds your brain... What do we think viewing our dead Muslims does? And what will happen when we stop viewing? I'm telling you the same enemy behind the porn industry wants us to view these images of dead Muslims.
Pro Palestine content is restricted on social media networks. But graphic images of dead Palestinians are everywhere. Ask yourself why they allow this.
From this moment on, act like you work for yourself. You are employed by yourself and must meet a certain standard to keep your “job”.
Think of it like a job interview. Allah is offering us the job to change the situation. How many of us would pass the interview? Would you fall back to the same negative emotions described above? No way!
Clarify your job role by completing the goal setting exercises here.
The list of goals and tasks the exercises give you are now your job description.
